Its wonderful to see how some of your friends are doing amazing things with their life and working hard towards achieving their dreams. I remember having a lot of friends while growing up (well I was a chatty kid) and as I started moving up the ladder of life I lost in touch with quite a few in the process. when I moved to Chennai 4 years ago I did not know anyone around . So one day I happened to go visit the community centre, I sat there all by myself trying to fit in and suddenly I hear a bubbly voice calling out my name. I turn back to see my very old vivacious friend Nafisa. Life throws such pleasant surprises at you. Nafisa Johar and I were friends in our gawky teens Haha !! This gawky teen has now grown to be an active wife/mother and an entrepreneur . Not just life but even she surprised me hehe. !!.
This girl confidently tells me about her first venture "Alana" . This started in Dec 2012 in collaboration with Alifya Yemani. P.S. Alifya's bright smile reaches miles 😊. Alana caters to hosting house parties and events , be it a birthday party , wedding gathering, sangeet, mehendi decors etc. They have organised more than 50 such events till date. They basically plan your event from the beginning to the end with all the detailing like themes, decor, activities, colour combinations, return favours etc. So Alana is one brand that reminded me of my London days. Their sense of colour and decor is subtle yet eye catching. Their work is like a rainbow with variety of colours and interesting ideas. The ladies put in crazy hours in all the planning apart from catering to their own families (I wonder how they do it). Alana has been a success story since more than 5 years now. These 2 ladies make the whole event organizing a total fun thing with their energy and love for what they do.
Striving for more Nafisa then partnered with Khadija Mustafa and came up with a very interesting concept called the "Brunch Box" early this year. They design and put together different sizes and types of goodie boxes that contains cakes , brownies , gourmet etc. I mean talk about making profits out of your baking mittens and kitchen Haha!!. This is what I call creativity. Khadija is known for her own brand "Katy's Basket" that deals with all kinds of baked goodies . In order to expand this skill set , both the ladies came up with the idea of the BrunchBox. Well yet another Eureka moment lol. Again they cater to an array of requests and needs. I have tasted their brownies and they are heavenly. Now these ladies are unstoppable. To make things better and more challenging these 3 wonder women - Alifya(with her ever smiling attitude) , Nafisa(with her crazy energy) and Khadija(with her calmness) joined hands to come up with the idea of hosting a flea market with the name "Thelittlesummerflea" market. The name explains it all. What stands out about this event is the kind of brands they have put together. I like the fact that they have such fun things for the kids and not just the ladies. The stalls are going to be selling very creative and different merchandise like colourful stationary , kids accessories etc. along with confectioneries and a list of interesting stalls that would hold the attention of the women folk. With the wrapping up of the final exams of your kids, this is the ideal event to start off the summer break. The ladies have put in fabulous ideas in marketing and publicising this event. Once again this is an effort of one entrepreneur supporting and uplifting another entrepreneur. The ladies aim at providing a platform for people to show case their creativity and also make the shopping experience more versatile. Their shout outs and stories have these cool animations that you just can't overlook. I appreciate their enthusiasm and the fire to make this event a success. Their vibrant personalities reflect in their work. So mark your calendars for 3rd April to know more about them and their efforts.
